Latest Listening Figures show Londoners Love Digital Radio - 2/6/2012
New radio audience figures published by RAJAR have revealed the extent of Londoners’ love affair with digital radio. In total, 5.4 million adults living in London listen to digital radio every week, based on the new data from the fourth quarter of 2011. This represents 55% of London’s radio listeners – a higher proportion than in any other major region of the UK. Digital radio’s share of total radio listening continues to grow steadily within the capital and has now surged to 34%, ahead of the UK average of 29%. London’s favourite digital platform is DAB, with nearly 40% of adults in the capital listening to radio each week via a DAB digital radio, ahead of digital TV and the internet. London’s favourite station to listen to via digital radio is Radio 4, which has just under 1.5 million digital listeners every week. Digital only stations makes up 6 out of the top 20 stations for digital listening: BBC 6 Music, Radio 4 Extra, BBC 1Xtra, BBC World Service, Jazz FM and Absolute 80s. BBC Radio 4 leads the way with nearly 1.4m digital listeners in London
