Our Multiplexes
DAB Digital Radio stations are grouped together by location and then broadcast to listener’s radios. These groupings are usually either local, regional or national. The BBC’s national stations like Radio 1 and Radio 2 are broadcast on the BBC’s national multiplex and national commercial stations like talkSPORT and Planet Rock are broadcast on a national multiplex operated by Digital One. Whilst most people in the UK can hear these national services, the number of local and regional services you can hear depends on where you live. For example, if you live in Swansea, as well as the national services, you will be able to hear regional stations (like Real Radio) broadcast by MXR’s Severn Estuary multiplex, as well as local stations (like The Wave) broadcast by our UTV-EMAP multiplex. You can find out what stations you should be able to hear by visiting digitalradionow.com and entering your postcode. In this section you can find out more about the multiplexes that UTV operate and the stations that are broadcast on them. Multiplex operators, like ourselves, act as an open platform that contracts with different companies to broadcast radio stations and data services. If you believe that a radio station would benefit from broadcasting digitally, we ask that you contact them directly as we cannot broadcast anyone unless they choose to come onto a specific local multiplex. If you would like more information about broadcasting on one of the multiplexes that we operate please visit the opportunities section of this website |
